At Titan Leathercraft each piece we make is unique, each is produced with care and attention and we try our utmost to ensure that we never make the same identical item again, meaning your bespoke TLC product won't be seen elsewhere.

Examples of our prior work can be found in the gallery pages. Here. If you see something from our gallery that you like then we can make a very similar item just for you, but maybe in a different colour, personalised or changed in some way.

If you have something very specific in mind then just send us an email using the contact us page with some basic information. We will review your e-mail and let you know what additional information we need to give you an accurate quote to make your personalised item.

Every piece is very different, but here are a few guidelines to help:

Timescale: as part of the quote we would let you know when we believe we would start work on a project, and how long we think it will take us. As a general guidelines it is best to allow approximately 4-6 weeks. Actual time will depend on the shop season & current order book.

Work in Progress: we would contact you when we start work on your project, and will often arrange to send you a few work-in-progress pictures as we reach each stage. As well as giving you an update it often is a great way of you providing feedback on the next stage before we start that piece of the work.

Payment: If your commission includes an element of personalisation (i.e. specific wording, initials or very unusual design features) then we will ask for a 50% deposit prior to commencement of work. The balance would be due upon completion, after which we can arrange for your commission to be available for collection from any of our store or sent to you directly.

Delivery: In most cases when quoting we will set the postage as Special Delivery to enable tracking of your bespoke item.

Information to include in your enquiry

As every commissions is very unique it can be difficult to provide a precise list of all the information we would need.

By way of an example, below are the main features we would need to consider in the commissioning of a book cover:

1/ Size:

For example one of the standard sizes (A6, A5 or A4) or exact measurements if you have a specific book in mind

2/ Stitching

We have a number of options on stitching, and we can provide examples where needed, but these would include whipstitch, saddle stitch (our standard approach), back stitch, double or triple loop lacing or Mexican basket weave lacing.

3/ Closing Mechanism

This would be how you want the book cover to close, and could include having no closure mechanism, a popper and strap, bead button and loop, elastic strap or a lock.

4/ Colours/Primary Colour

We have a complete range of leather dyes and stains so we can produce goods in most colours, and the examples above and those in our gallery of prior work should help give a good idea of the colours available. We can also airbrush certain dyes for different base effects.

We generally recommend giving us an idea of the primary colour you would like used on your order, and advise us any colour you absolutely wouldn't want used.

We will then include additional blocking/backgrounding and highlights at the discretion of the leatherworker to provide you with the best possible finish.

5/ Tooling Design

This is where you can really personalise your hand-made product, and we usually recommend sending us a picture, drawing or link to the design you would like to have tooled onto the leather - (however please bear in mind we need to abide by any Copyright laws). The design for the tooling has the most impact on the final price, as this is where the majority of the time, artistry and skill is taken.

It can sometimes be a bit daunting to provide all of this information, but don’t worry as we can take you through all of this either in person at our workshop in Poole, over e-mail or we can give you a call.

Please do take a look through our gallery (either on this website or on our facebook page) for examples of prior commissions as this often helps to give you an idea of what we can do.
